September 2023
Dear Pastor and Church,
I bring you sincere greetings from Ghana and pray that this meets you doing well in the Lord. Our good God has been doing us well and we are very thankful for His grace, mercy and love. We serve the good and loving God who has His eyes on His children, never leaving them nor forsaking them.
The ministry is going on well and being blessed. We started a program of preaching in all the clan centers of our tribe some time ago. We purchased a set of good outdoor public address system and with a team of four young men we were ready to go. We planned being at each place two nights. We will be covering not less than twelve places. We covered five and we entered into our rainy season. We have, therefore, paused for a while. We preach and distribute some evangelistic booklets and tracts that I have written. It has been going on real well. Please pray for us to be consistent and for our people we are reaching out to. Do not pray for the rain to stop because our people are rain-dependent farmers. Pray that the Lord will be giving us pauses in the rain especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
Our radio ministry is going on very well. I am surprised how far people call from just to thank us for the messages. We have just finished a series of messages on the life of Joseph. I make the messages as evangelistic as possible. We broadcast in both English and my language, Krobo. Thank you so much for all your prayers and financial support for this aspect of our ministry.
Let me share the testimonies of two elderly men who through our ministry have come to know the Lord and are living for Him and looking forward to leave any time from now into His Presence:
Brother Samuel Mensah: He is 99 years old. He knows it because he has his date of birth written down and can tell you old, old stories. He is a trained chef and was last in employment with a Scottish family in Nigeria. He loves the white of the chefs so much that he always puts on white top and down to church. I mean every Sunday is white. We came into contact with him some twenty-five years ago at Swedru. He was already a saved man, and he came in for scriptural baptism. Some ten years ago he relocated to a town just about two miles from where I stay. I introduced him to the New Testament Baptist Church, and he started attending there. He and I became friends and I visit him a lot. Now he cannot move much. Whenever I visit he will recall my current radio message and we will discuss it. The last time I went, he told me he is waiting for his name to be called so he will be with the Lord. My son, Senyo, has taken him as his grandfather and supports his upkeep.
Brother Theodore Asime: This is another brother in the Lord. He is 95 years old. I met him some fifteen years ago. I shared the gospel, and he gave his life to the Lord and I baptized him. Once again, because of proximity he joined the New Testament Baptist Church. He is less than a mile away and some three miles from my house. We became real good friends. When his grandson lost both parents, he brought him to me to foster. He said the boy should forever stay with me. I am keeping him and still taking care of him. Brother Theodore is the oldest in the extended family and by tradition and custom is supposed to be pouring libation and calling on ancestral spirits for the family. He has totally rejected this because of his faith in the Lord. Some family members are not happy with him, but he said it doesn’t bother him. He lost his wife earlier this year. He said every time my preaching time comes up on the radio, he switches on his radio and puts it at a particular place and raises the volume so all who are passing by can hear. His house is not fenced so people pass through his compound. Brother Theodore misses his wife a lot these days but he says he is looking forward to his heavenly abode. The other day he asked me, “Pastor, why do you love me so much.” Well, he is my brother in the Lord and He loves my LORD.
Please pray for these two wonderful brethren.
Gloria and our young ladies and two gentlemen are doing fine. They said I shouldn’t call them children. That’s okay with me as long as they call me Papa.
God bless you all,
Samuel, Gloria and our four young adults.
